About the AAA

The AAA was founded in 1984 by Dr David Gilchrist, a highly respected veterinarian and human acupuncturist.
He was one of the first Westerners to author a textbook on animal acupuncture in 1981.
At first, he only taught acupuncture to highly select veterinarians in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Europe.
Then, a light bulb moment showed him that anyone could become an excellent animal acupuncture practitioner, given the right training.

A New Era for the AAA

Following Dr Gilchrist’s passing, Dr Lucie Bland became the new Course Director of the AAA in 2023.
Dr Lucie is a PhD-qualified biologist, holistic animal health practitioner, and former university lecturer.
She brings a wealth of experience in online learning and student success to the AAA.
